Chiefs opened their 2017 campaign with a strong performance against UNI SA Eagles. Defense showed up ready in the first half with James Brasser #10 forcing a turning over on the first drive that was returned by Trent Gibbons #77 inside the Eagles 20 resulting in a FG by Anthony Verlato #85. Eagles QB Sam Crummy tested CB Sam Meyers one too many times resulting in a INT returned for TD. QB Nick Caputo #7 was in midseason form as he commanded the offense to a 29-0 halftime lead with TDs in the air to Chris Bryett #88 and returning offensive player of the year Zach Barlett #82 and rushing for one TD himself on the ground. UNI SA rallied in the second half with Sam Crummy and Sebastian Burford connecting for 2 TDs and veteran RB Ian Naulty rushing for a score. Chiefs responded to the scoreboard pressure with Verlato adding another FG and Caputo connecting with Ross Riach #33 for another score through the air Final score 39-18 Post game Chiefs and Eagles remained on field for the presentation of the Dawn Mayman Perpetual Trophy
