The GASA Season for 2013/14 opened yesterday and with the Chiefs facing the Eagles in a Grand Final re-match. Both sides struggled to move the football in the opening quarter. But as the game moved on the Eagles took a 8-0 lead after a blown assignment on a speed option. Chiefs got the score back but failed on the two point conversion with the half time score being 8-6. Eagles D forced a safety in the second half after an Eagles punt had the chiefs pinned inside their own 5 yard line. End of the third quarter and the score was 10-6 Eagles. Forth quarter action saw the Chiefs drive and score on a pass to Aaron Kempe from Mark Rusby. The two point conversion was good and the Chiefs took the lead 14-10. Defense worked hard and held the Eagles out for the final 7 minutes of the game. The Chiefs D had a great game with 7 turnovers 4 fumble recoveries and 3 interceptions. A good first game win with plenty of improvement on both sides of the ball to come.
